Recently, students from grades 8 through 12 at Lamar High School had the unique opportunity to visit the Be Pro Be Proud mobile workshop, which was stationed on campus. The mobile workshop provides an interactive and engaging experience designed to introduce students to a variety of high-wage, high-demand careers in skilled trades.
The Be Pro Be Proud initiative is dedicated to inspiring young people to consider careers in fields such as construction, manufacturing, and transportation, which are vital to Arkansas’ economy. By offering hands-on exposure to these professions, the program encourages students to explore career paths that promise both job stability and financial success.
The event is part of a broader effort to bridge the gap between education and industry, helping students make informed decisions about their futures. This experience opens doors to exciting career paths and empowers students to envision their future in these dynamic fields.

5th grade GT students had a great time learning a new skill as they completed a sewing project—making pillowcases! Special thanks to the Johnson County and Franklin County Extension Office agents for guiding them through the process. 🧵✨

On Monday, Laiken Boen, the High School Career Coach, took students who are interested in STEM careers to tour the training facility at Arkansas Nuclear One. Students got to meet with representatives of different departments including: radiation protection, operations, engineering, and emergency preparedness. They had an opportunity to visit the control room simulators and be part of a mock emergency drill.
